Open house - 3 Caroline Street

The street was named after Caroline Whitlam Salt the wife of Titus Salt, founder of Saltaire. Little is known about Caroline herself, but local historians hope to shed more light on the woman who must have greatly influenced the idyllic village model Caroline and Titus shared.

Originally, 3 Caroline St was modelled as one of the village boarding houses and was built during the first phase of the village's construction. When first constructed (1853-54), 3 and 4 Caroline St would have been a single dwelling, but at some point during its history was separated into two properties.

This house is another new edition to the arts trail and packed with a fantastic array of new artists. If that wasn’t enough we have Craig Ainge demonstrating traditional signwriting skills, using time honoured skills, traditional paints and artistic creativity!
