Veronica Russell
I have just completed a Fine Art degree at Bradford School of Arts and Media, where I specialised in printmaking and drawing. The prints in this Arts Trail were all produced at the college, using a variety of techniques which include woodcuts, linocuts and screen-printing.
The main focus of my work at the moment is the performative nature of people’s behaviour. I am particularly interested in the performance of seemingly “private” rituals in the public sphere and some of the work shown in the Arts Trail looks at this type of behaviour on a train. Thus, I have considered, for example, people putting on makeup, using a mobile phone and the appropriation of extra space.
I am also interested in the performance of rituals concerned with the consumption of food and drink, such as eating crisps or drinking takeaway coffee. There is more to consumption than just hunger or thirst! |
