Jacky Al-Samarraie
I am a graphic artist living in Bradford. I studied as a mature student at Bradford School of Art Design & Textiles and graduated in 2003 with a first class honours degree in Graphic Media Communication. Throughout my life I’ve had a desire ‘to make things’, starting initially around 8 years old teaching myself to sew. Over the years I tried out a variety of crafts, from woodwork to printmaking before learning art vocationally.
The style in which I currently work is literal and simplistic, especially within my landscapes. I create a contemporary view of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. A love of walking inspired their creation. My first was a view of Robin Hoods Bay in 2006.
I currently publish my work with The Art Rooms which is a company I set up in 2007. I have applied my designs to a small number of products, greeting cards in the main but also, bone china mugs, framed prints and notebooks which I currently sell to a number of independent shops and galleries around the country, including The Tate and The Royal Landscape and locally at Salts Mill and Dean Clough Design shop.
I have recently exported the Yorkshire countryside to Japan. |
