Originally from the exotic lands of Buckinghamshire, I came to Leeds in search of creative enlightenment at the Leeds College of Art and Design.
It was here that I spent three years doodling, dreaming, dyeing, playing..
Then one day I came across a machine that helped me draw like I had never drawn before, we became friends, together we spent many a long night, I came to love her meditative hum, and she came to love her new life as an artistry tool… an amalgamation of nature and mechanism occurred…
Whilst all this was happening my heart was enchanted by a beautiful man and by this strangely wondrous place that has come to be my adopted home…

Whilst studying in the beautiful town of Breda, in Holland, as part of the Erasmus international study scheme, I discovered the importance of the many forms of non-verbal communication. I became attuned to the communicative power of visual stimuli and developed a fascination with ancient symbolism, that resulted in the creation of hand-embroidered ‘welcome’ bags in which I utilised the ancient language of symbolism as a means of imbuing them with a sense of welcome, guidance and protection. Subsequently my work has become a means of communicating through expressions of colour and symbolic representations of stories created and texts reinterpreted.

I am greatly influenced by journeys made, experiences shared and by the bizarre things in life that strike the ear and the eye as unusual and as a result my designs are an eclectic fusion of symbolism, text and embroidery onto a variety of substrates playfully combined to create bright and cheerful designs that I hope ignite amusement in the viewer.

The story behind the stories…
Working in harmony with Mother Nature
Obsessive stitching
Meaning, medium, message
Boiling onion skin for dye
Humorous quotes and words of wisdom
The hidden language of symbols
Universal communication
Life, love and unitea
Fortune and friendship
The joy of making people smile
The smell of old books
Amusement, bemusement
Bring art to life… and life to art
Stories retold for the world to behold…
