Chris Burn
Chris Burn is a Bradford born artist living and working in the city. He studied Fine Art at DeMontfort University, Lincoln 1996-2001.
Statement
Occupied with investigating the genre of portraiture, my work playfully mixes high art and low art. Using coloured pencil to create distinctive drawings of people; the images exist in their own esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them.
Drawing in colour, i am faced with the same problems that a painter would encounter, such as; layering, colour choices, scraping back etc but am attracted to drawing as a mark making tool for its immediacy and fragility.
