Gemma Wrightson
Hello! My name is Gemma and I am a textiles designer/maker based in Hull. My passion for print and embroidery emerged whilst studying for my degree in Textiles Design and I have continued to explore and develop my ideas.
My design inspiration comes from a wide range of sources including vintage collections of ceramics and haberdashery, British tea drinking and childhood memories. I am especially inspired by vintage tea cups and tea pots. I love the bright colour palettes used combined with the delicate floral patterns. I like to use them as a starting point by taking photographs and producing collages and drawings before taking my ideas onto fabric.
My current collection includes aprons, peg bags and tea towels. The fresh colour scheme of lime, turquoise and dusky pinks, adorned with pretty buttons and trims creates a modern interiors range with a vintage twist.
All my products are made from fabric that is dyed, screen printed and embroidered by hand, creating individual, bespoke pieces.
